I had a really nice evening session at Hove, cross shore from the left with
even a sniff of offshore about it. It was still raining as I left work, but
by the time I had rigged, the skies cleared and the session had a backdrop
of fluffy clouds lit up by orange sunset. Unusual conditions with lined up
swell rolling along from the east and peeling along the shore as it hit the
beach at an angle. Wind was light, but planing on a 5.5m and RWW83. No chop
on the inside, just dappled smooth wave faces. Quite surreal actually.
Practised the dreaded port tack riding and lucked into one clean peeler
with 3 half decent top turns kicking up little rips of spray. Finished at
6:20pm in the dark.
